Because we are evil!!!
It’s because of how human were evolved. Basically, our ancestors lived in small societies and number of possible mates in these societies was very low. So when a male was rejected, it was a huge blow to his need for passing his genes. So men are emotionally programmed to avoid this possibility as much as possible. Thus comes fear of rejection.
