Ask Women Trust & Cheating

Can I trust him again after he cheated?

Asked by Woman, 28

It was not a one-night thing. I found out because I looked at his phone. He says it is over and he wants to rebuild. I don’t know if staying is strength or humiliation.

Men’s answer

Trust is not a speech. It is a stretch of boring, checkable behavior. If he wants to stay, he should expect transparency that feels unfair for a while: fewer secrets, fewer disappearing hours, no “don’t worry about it.” If he is angry that you looked, or rushing you to “move on,” he is asking you to swallow the cost. You can try. You do not owe him the experiment.

Women’s answer

The question is not “can people forgive cheating?” Some can. The question is whether *you* still have a self in this. If you are staying to prove you are the bigger person, you will resent him and yourself. Stay only if he is doing the work without you having to parent him, and only if your body is not in a constant alarm state. Humiliation is not a loyalty program.

What to do next

Give it a time box, not a vibe. Write down what transparency looks like this month. If he cannot live inside that, you have your answer without another year of maybe.
