How do I tell trauma bonding from chemistry?

Asked by Man, 28

The highs are huge. The crashes are worse. People say that is passion. I am not sure.

Men’s answer

Chemistry can be calm and still be hot. Trauma bonding needs a crash to feel alive. If you only feel close after a fight, a scare, or a disappearing act, your body is pairing relief with attachment. That is not a soulmate plot. It is a pattern your nervous system already knows. Stable interest will bore you at first. That boredom is data.

Women’s answer

If you miss them most when they are cruel, and feel oddly flat when they are kind, you are not 'too much.' You are hooked on repair. Chemistry that needs chaos will call peace boring. Give peace thirty days before you decide it is not love.

What to do next

Pause contact for a week. If the longing is panic more than missing a specific person, treat it as a bond to interrupt, not a sign to text.
