Guys talk about types like it is a pizza topping. Is it looks, personality, or a polite way of saying I am not it?
Usually looks first, then a pattern of how someone is to be around. “Type” is often just the cluster of people we have already been attracted to, not a law. Plenty of men date outside it and then retrofit the story. If someone uses “you’re not my type” as a closer, take it as a no. Do not ask to be the exception in the same breath.
It is often a shortcut, and shortcuts hide laziness. Some men mean hair color. Some mean “easy for me.” A few mean values and pace. Ask what they actually like doing with a partner. If they can only describe a body, that is the whole type.
If you are dating him, watch who he pays attention to in the world, not the speech. If you are asking for yourself, “type” is data, not a verdict on your worth.
