We were fine, then 'I need space.' I keep asking what I did. That seems to make it worse.
Sometimes space means 'I cannot think with you in my inbox.' Asking what you did every hour is the opposite of space. Give a clear window: 'I will check in Sunday unless you want me sooner.' Then actually disappear. If she needed an exit, you will learn it. If she needed air, you will still be there.
Need space is not always a verdict. It is often a nervous system asking for quiet. Interrogating it turns it into a trial. We will tell you more after we can hear ourselves. If we never come back with a sentence, that is a slow no. You are allowed to stop waiting without a speech from us.
Agree a time to reconnect. Do not fill the gap with essays. Use the days for your own life.
