We used to talk every night. Now it is a text at 11pm. He says work is crazy. I feel insane for caring.
Sometimes work is actually crazy. The tell is whether the rest of him is still pointed at you: plans get made, he is glad to see you, he does not vanish on weekends. A man who wants you will not let the channel die without a sentence about it. Silence plus vagueness is usually cooling, not a promotion at the office.
You are not insane for noticing a downgrade. Ask one clean question: “I miss the calls. Is this a busy month or a different relationship?” If he punishes you for asking, that is the answer. Do not start a detective agency. Watch whether effort returns after you name it.
Name the change once. Give it two weeks of evidence. If the pattern holds, believe the pattern, not the excuse.
