Silence can be self-control. It can also be a wall you hide behind because words feel like losing. You do not have to give a speech. You do have to make a sound: 'I am angry and I cannot talk well. I need an hour.' Unannounced silence is what reads as punishment, even when you mean safety.
We can live with a pause. We cannot live with a vanishing. Tell us you are coming back. If you never learned to be angry without going blank, that is work, not a life sentence. We will meet a sentence. We will not meet a locked door forever.
